Do we always have to lift heavier and go faster?

Question. I have worked out for decades and have no plans to stop. I do all the things and will continue to do so. However, I have no interest in progressive overload, when it comes to lifting weights, and I have - for the most part - taken intense HIIT out of my routine. I have no injuries, am 46, and have no problems, I'm just not interested in always feeling like I have to lift heavier. My Powerblocks go up to 24 pounds, and I think I"m good with that. What's everyone's take on how to exercise long-term, still feel somewhat challenged, but have no interest in making it much harder? I'm curious what your philosophy is.
