New Workout! Lower Body Stretch and Tone

Hello FB Family! There is always much to learn about ourselves when we choose to slow down a bit…

Lower Body Stretch and Tone

For those who put off stretching or are seeking an active recovery day specifically for the lower body, this workout is calling your name! Each exercise in this routine has a stretching and muscle engagement component to both relax and lengthen the muscles while also lightly contracting them at the same time to bring in new blood flow. This is optimal for your leg muscles to experience 1-2 days after a tough leg workout when stiffness and soreness are setting in from the small muscle tears that were made. It’s also a welcoming way to get your stretching in if you’re one to avoid stretching-only videos :) Plus, when we interrupt the back-to-back nature of challenging workouts and slow down to tune in with our bodies, we can learn more about what we need to thrive!

In this routine, we will complete 2 rounds of a set of exercises. The first round is entirely gentle and low impact while the second round there are just two exercises that I invite you to incorporate some higher intensity if it feels appropriate for you. If not, you can stick with the same version from the first round. You can also approach this workout as a level 2 or level 3 in difficulty. For level 3, try out the high-impact options in round 2 and move through the exercises at a faster pace to increase the cardio effect. Hold the stretches longer and move slower for a level 2 experience. My tip is to let your body decide what level is right for you when you do this workout! Due to the nature of the exercises and intensity of this workout, there is no warm-up, cool-down, or water break. This makes for a quick 20-minute video! Feel free to pause when/if needed.

This is one of those routines which you can always find benefit from, no matter when you do it!
