Hip impingement?

Has anyone had any experience with a hip impingement? I’ve had progressive hip pain and it’s gotten to the point where most lower body exercises (including stretches and body weight exercises that involve hip flexion and external rotation) are painful. I’ve started a rehab routine to strengthen my glutes (I’m a therapist myself!), but I’m worried I’ll never be able to lift again. I’d love to hear from anyone who has gone through a similar experience. Any advice would be appreciated!
