New Guided Practice! A Visualization for Decreasing Overwhelm

Do you ever notice how your thoughts can make your already stressed out mind even more stressed? You’re going about your busy day and all of the sudden you notice yourself questioning your future or even a current relationship you’re having. Even if you didn’t consciously have these worries before, they suddenly are invading cognitive space?

If so, it sounds like you need to take a moment to distance yourself from your thoughts. Our mind is a powerful tool and does a lot of things without our awareness (or consent). Sometimes we have to intentionally take a step back and put some space between ourselves and our thoughts in order to reduce the power they can often have over us.

Try this new practice: Guided Visualization to Decrease Overwhelm

This is a very similar practice to Candice’s Thoughts on a Cloud Practice intended to use visualization to help us get some distance from our thoughts. With this one, instead of visualizing the sky and clouds, we are outside near a stream with leaves floating on it. Even if you use this as a moment to relax and take a quick break, this can help you with stress reduction.

So, give it a try and see how it works for you! Let us know in the comments below.
