How do I know when I'm ready for a pull up bar?

I'm thinking about getting a pull up bar because leg lifts look like a fun way to exercise my core. More background on me:

I've been using fitness blender for 4 or so years now, and I think my lower body strength has really surpassed my core and upper body strength. I'm thinking a pull up bar could be a helpful tool to develop both core and upper body strength but I'm not sure that I'm at the strength level to properly start using it.

Does anyone have any insight on how I could better understand how this tool fits my current strength level?
