Core Exercise Postpartum

Hey all!

I recently had my first baby (yay!!!) and have gotten clearance from my provider to resume exercise. I was told that as long as I listen to my body and do not begin bleeding again I can start building back up to the way I was exercising prenatally (including my core).

Here’s my question: when should I start introducing “normal” core exercises again? e.g. crunches, planks, and pretty much anything else that was a no-no during pregnancy? I still have about 1 finger’s breadth of abdominal separation (I think Diastasis Recti is typically considered 2+).

I don’t want to slow my abdominal healing, or make my separation worse by starting too soon, but I don’t know where that line is. Thoughts?
