New Guided Slow Breathing Practice

Hello FB Family! I know many of you are always looking for more tools for your coping/relaxation toolbox. Well, today’s guided practice will teach you another breathing technique that can help to connect your mind and body and stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system, helping you to relax!

Guided Slow Breathing Practice

The goal for this breathing practice is to slow down your breathing rate from the more typical 10-20 breaths per minute to about half that at 4-10 breaths per minute. This has been shown to be helpful for folks with hypertension or blood pressure issues, chronic pain, high stress, and even negative mood states.

For me, this type of practice takes a bit of concentration and gives me a bit of a “mental workout.” When I am able to finally relax into the practice and not be too focused on doing it the right way (hello perfectionism, again), I find myself feeling so much more calm and relaxed!

So, take 15 minutes to give yourself the gift of this practice and let us know how it goes!
