How to make my weak side stronger?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if you have any tips to work both sides of your body evenly? My right side in general is stronger in every muscle so when I do exercises I try to really focus on utilizing my left side muscles. However, I always end up more sore on my right side. Should I do extra reps on the left side after the workout or lift heavier on that side? Thanks!
