New Article on Self-Awareness and Wellness Goals

How often do you think about thinking?

Honestly, in my opinion, this skill of being able to observe your thought processes and evaluate them for how well they work for you is critical for managing all sorts of things: academic life, work pursuits, effectiveness of workouts, state of mental or physical health, etc. It is the reason I think I was even able to get through graduate school — I don’t consider myself more intelligent than most other people, but I have excellent metacognitive skills. Though it’s so important, nobody really ever explicitly teaches us how to do it.

This article is all about the concept of metacognition. I will discuss metacognition generally, how it benefits our health and wellness, times when it may not be as helpful, and I’ll provide some prompts that you can use to enhance your own metacognitive skills. The more you practice these skills, the more you will see improvements throughout your life. Be sure to let me know how they work for you!
