Monday walk

My friend and I walked a part of the "brandgrens" route today. It is a walk through the city of Rotterdam. On may 14th 1940 the city got bombarded, in merely 15 minutes a large part of the city is on ruins. Fires caused by the bombing burn for 2 days, leaving 80.000 people homeless. If you are interested in the Rotterdam story, it is here: https://www.brandgrens.nl/en/home

The cool part about the walk is that you see pre-war and post-war homes on either side of the road. Sometimes new building are build right next to old building. We got out of the rain under the arch of a pre-war church (now homes) and there was an appartment building attached to it (picture in the comments). A lot of homes on the brandgrens are monuments.

The colourfull wall has a poem on it by the Rotterdam citypoet, Derek Otte:

happy today, worries yesterday,

Bad yesterday, good morrow

10 km walk, workout complete (we missed some bits, so we need to do it again)
