Back Bow Form Wrong?

I find that when I do "Back Bow" or any variation of that move (being on stomach and lifting chest from ground) my ribs HURT! Often my ribs are what feels the burn rather than my back. I sometimes feel a soreness/bruise-sensation the next day if I do a workout with a lot of those move types. It is tolerable, but I'm curious if this means my form is wrong/I'm working the wrong muscles? Any thoughts or tips would be great! Or letting me know I'm not alone and this is normal :)
