New to FB Plus: Guided Meditations by Doctoral-Level Mental Health Experts

Hello Fitness Blender Family!

We are so excited to introduce you to a new type of Fitness Blender content: guided meditations!

Our mental health experts Haley and Candice have been writing articles about mental health and wellness for Fitness Blender for quite a while. Now, they’re stepping behind the microphone (and soon, in front of the camera) to help you decrease stress, improve your body awareness, and practice mindfulness and meditation techniques.

We have two guided meditations going up today. The first is Body Scan Guided Meditation for Physical Manifestations of Stress with Haley, to help you bring your awareness back to your body during stressful times. The second is Thoughts on a Cloud Guided Meditation for Calming the Mind with Candice, to help you practice calming visualization techniques.

If you aren’t familiar with Haley and Candice yet, here’s a little more about them:

Haley is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Ohio and is a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. She combines her psychological perspective and tribal knowledge system to promote a holistic, balanced, strengths-based approach to living well. She values and is passionate about sharing psychological knowledge widely in order to improve mental health within global society. “We all possess the strength and tools to adapt to change,” Haley says. “I am passionate about supporting people through these life changes.”

Candice is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor. She has been providing mindfulness-based therapy to clients with trauma, substance use concerns, and mood disorders for over 15 years. She is affiliate faculty at Northwestern University’s Masters of Counseling Program, directs an internship program for counselors in training, and teaches mindfulness to international audiences. Candice feels passionately about breaking down barriers to mental wellness that result from inequality and oppression. “My work as a counselor has shown me that while we may not have control over all of our external circumstances, there are so many tools that can help us grow and heal in the face of difficulty,” she says. “My hope is that you’ll learn strategies for more joyful, open-hearted living.”

It’s important to remember that the mind and body are very much connected. Mindfulness and meditation can be beneficial for both our mental and physical health, and a helpful tool when dealing with stress, pain, or sleep difficulties. Stay tuned for more videos from Haley and Candice.

Soon there will be a lot more content that will live under our new Wellness Videos section - if you have more ideas of what you would like to see here, feel free to share!

Here at Fitness Blender, we want to provide content that benefits not just your physical health, but your overall wellness. Working out, eating whole foods, and mindfulness are all practices that can help us live happier, healthier lives — and we want to offer you the tools you need to do just that.

Whether you’ve meditated before or if you’re about to try it for the first time with Haley or Candice, we hope you enjoy these new and exciting videos from Fitness Blender. We can’t wait to hear what you think!

Thank you for being a part of Fitness Blender!
