Struggling with Crunches?

I can normally do all exercises to a certain degree, but I've always struggled with crunches. Especially toe touch crunches! I can do the side ones alright, but when it comes to straight up toe touch crunches I struggle ridiculously. (I'm also not super flexible in my legs, so I struggle keeping them straight. I've found bending my knee helps.) I've got a pretty strong core everywhere else, but I'm just confused... I can't get very far up when I do crunches. Am I doing it wrong? Does anyone have any tips?
