FB Fit R3 - Day 26 - 1000 calorie workout COMPLETE!

With intense heat predicted for today, the 1000 calorie workout had already been rescheduled for tomorrow, but this morning brought the unexpected surprise blessing of much cooler weather! :) So, it was the perfect weather to do the 1000 calorie workout as originally scheduled after all. :D

Having recently done the scheduled, surprisingly enjoyable, but draining 1000 calorie workout in the previous FB program, due to an injury it was best this time to do one without any kickboxing and with more knee-friendly HIIT to avoid aggravating things. This 1000 calorie workout was done instead: https://www.fitnessblender.com/videos/1000-calorie-workout-for-4-million-subscribers-at-home-workout-to-burn-1000-calories

In glancing through the program guide it seemed like it would be slightly less HIIT-heavy with more knee/back friendly HIIT, but looks can be deceiving! ;)

Things were going surprisingly well throughout the more knee-friendly 20 minute HIIT portion in the beginning, only needing to make a few mods for the knees - low-impact version of 1 exercise (star jumps), substituting high knees for mountain climbers, and decreasing the ROM on the lunges slightly while increasing the tempo to keep the HR in the high-intensity zone.

For those who think that low-impact is incompatible with high-intensity - all that's needed is to increase the tempo enough to get the HR up as high as doing the high-impact version of an exercise. So, instead of following along with the exact pace and ROM in the video, simply adjust either/both as needed to make it work for you and turn any lower impact version into a sweat-drenching, heart-racing low-impact high-intensity exercise (LI-HIIT). :D

The AB x3 style strength training portion was very enjoyable - especially the 3 sets instead of 2. Kelli's "Chuck Norris" exercise mat kicking into the camera was a fun spot of humor in an otherwise slightly more serious than usual strength training portion. ;)

All was well until the core + cardio portion when suddenly burpees and other crazy HIIT exercises appeared again - what?! :O As with yesterday's kickboxing, and as Daniel says in the video - you know it's a tough workout when you look forward to the abs exercises b/c they feel so much easier than the cardio, lol! There's something to be said for a workout that has you looking forward to doing 2xs of 45 seconds of backbows, Russian twists, plank holds, plank to push-ups, etc., haha! ;) Already being wiped out by the 20 minutes of HIIT at the beginning of the workout - all done as HIIT, and remembering last month's 1000 calorie post-workout multi-day sluggishness, after the first AB round, decided it was best to scale back on the intensity and do the lighter versions of the exercises instead of the classic HI-HIIT versions.

Added some extra stretches at the end to fill in the gaps - deep glute, child's pose, shell, cobra, cat-cow, torso twist, and full-body.

At the end, the room temp had increased by several degrees and everything was drenched in sweat. It was such a blessing that today wasn't the hot weather predicted and that the 1000 calorie workout is done - hoorah! :D

All in all, this 1000 calorie workout seemed somewhat more challenging than the scheduled 1000 calorie workout, perhaps due to the HIIT-type cardio snuck into the core section at the end, but since it had no kickboxing, it's a keeper, lol! ;)

It's hard to believe that FB Fit R3 is complete!! (other than tomorrow's optional stretching - which is definitely welcome!) For some reason, it began to feel easier and easier in weeks 3 and 4 compared to feeling harder and harder in weeks 1 and 2 when it was tempting to give up. It's such a blessing to be able to continue to recover from injury and rebuild lost fitness and strength with the FB programs, and especially to be able to finish this challenging program strong!! :)

So grateful and happy for being able to finish a FB program without need to do any rescheduling for the first time ever! :D

Thanks Kelli, Daniel, & the FB Team for creating such a well-balanced, challenging, interesting program! :)

Hope your week is winding down well - happy Blending everyone!
