Physical Therapy Day 3

Hey Blender Peeps!

I hope everyone is doing well or as well as you could be.

Today I had my third day of physical therapy and I was introduced to "new exercises/stretches". I say it like that because the things she had me do I was already aware of but I didn't know that they would help with my issue.

Something else that I'm learning to do is tuck in my core and keep a straight back. To obviously help with posture but to also help with keeping it pulled in when working out. This physical therapy really is helping me in ways that I never thought and I'm truly thankful to GOD that I'm doing it. That's one thing that the Arthritis & Rheumatism specialist I went to did that actually helped me or is helping.

The exercises/stretches feels really good because it's the most stretching and movement I've been able to do since my pains have started. I'm also feeling stretches in places that I've never known you could even stretch. For example, my fingers I didn't know you could feel stretches in your fingers.

Something else I also feel good about is being able to give my physical therapist advice about working out. I asked her while doing my exercises (because we often have conversations to break the silence) if she worked out. She said she does but not as much as she should. The moment I heard this I thought back to FitnessBlender and the community. (I feel really stupid because I probably should've recommeded her to join the community. That is a big missed opportunity. Maybe next time.) She said she goes to the gym and can do things but often loses motivation. I remember reading some posts here on the website about others who had the same issue. I always saw the same responses. I often hear Jillian Michaels say this, Kelli and Daniel, Blogilates, basically any good trainers all say the same thing....

"If you're having trouble working out in terms of motivation or you find yourself struggling...think about your WHY. That'll get you through it."

Obviously not worded exactly like that but everyone basically says that. I telling her about how anytime she feels like she's losing that motivation think about her why and if she doesn't have one..make one. I also told her depending on your "why" you may get pretty far on your journey because in the end it's all about how you feel, not how you look....right? She told me I should be a personal trainer. 😅 I just told her I can't take credit for that when Kelli and Daniel and other trainers are the ones who say that. What other advice would you guys have given?

Also, I was given the okay to start going on walks and doing other stretching routines on top of the exercises and stretches my physical therapist gives. I need to measure the progress I'm making. So after her routines I'm going to do FitnessBlender stretching videos and go for walks and see how I feel.

I REALLY think physical therapy will make a difference. Whether big or small progress is still progress right?

I would add pictures of the exercises but I have no clue how to make a collage. 😅

Have a Blessed day guys!
