Sore hamstrings

Hello folks, just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar and if so any advice.

I had to give up high impact workouts for a few months, and stuck to low impact or yoga or Pilates. Last week I started back into high impact again, I did one 30 min HIIT, then a couple days later I did a 40min high impact cardio. I haven't been able to work out since as my hamstrings have been so sore! Like doing any type of workout hurts them. I'm assuming it's because I haven't used my hamstrings for high impact for months, and as tough as it is, I'm waiting extra days before I do any other workouts. Has anyone else had this? Think I'll be ok to go and do another HIIT in a couple days time or should I ease back in maybe? Thanks
