Working Out After Total Abdominal Hysterectomy

I have a total abdominal hysterectomy coming up in June. (I have massive fibroids so keyhole was out as an option.) I am curious what to expect in terms of how long it'll take before I can start light exercise? I am 41 and the only surgery I've had previously was a c-section when I had my twins 20 years ago so I really have no frame of reference. I'm really concerned about the recovery time and although I want to give my body time I also don't want to get TOO out of shape if I can help it. Thoughts?
