Getting in backpacking shape

Hello! I've been here and there with my fitness over the past 5 years, sometimes working out a ton and sometimes doing nothing. Lately, I've been on the doing nothing end. However, I have recently set a goal of doing a 55 mile backpacking trip in August and I'm wondering if anyone has any input on training ideas to get ready for that? Core and lower body strengthening seems obvious, but what else? What am I missing?
