Workout surface

Good morning FB Community! I am looking for any input about workout surfaces. I workout in my apartment on a carpeted surface. A thin mat is good enough for core and upper body exercises but for lower body/cardio it moves around too much. I started using interlocking pieces but they come apart after a few minutes. I don't want to do it straight on the carpet so as not to wear it out. What do other people use on carpeted surfaces. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!
