Water retention

I’m on my 3rd week of strength training after not working out hard in a long time and I feel so puffy! The scale says I’ve gained 4 pounds, but I feel like I’ve gained so much more. I’m so uncomfortable. It feels like my cheeks are hanging off my face! I’m not even overweight. This was unexpected and discouraging. Going to keep at it and hope this goes away sooner than later! Anyone else experience something similar and how long did it last? Thx!
