Having trouble feeling the burn anywhere

Hey fbf. So question. Anyone know any tricks to feeling exercises in my glutes/thighs? For example if I’m doing a deadlift and I feel like squeezing my glutes together each time I never feel anything while doing it or after. The same goes if I’m trying to work on my thighs and I’m doing side leg raises I always feel it in my calves for some reason. How can I feel the burn in places I’m supposed to when doing the exercises for that particular part of my body?
