Struggles with side planks, especially with dips or toe touches

I feel like every time side planks come up with dips, toe touches, or another movement, I end up having to revert to just the side plank after a bit. And I'm not sure if I'm imaging it, but it feels like my arms are more of an issue than the core muscles (from a support standpoint).

I can usually only do one or two dip or toe touch (side plank from my knees, not feet), then just end up trying to hold the side plank for the rest of the interval if I can.

I was wondering if anyone has had this issue? Is it possible that my arms are weak in that area and are holding me back from side planks with movements or is my core just that weak?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for when side planks with dips, toe touches, etc come up in workouts other than doing one or reps of those then just holding the side plank, I'd appreciate it!
