how long does it take to lose tone and muscle mass

I've been on and off with my workouts. I was working on a regular, with breaks but now I'm not motivated. Im planning to restart my program tomorrow and workout inthe morning. However, I noticed with my workouts and strength training I've notice definition and muscle in my glutes and abs. I dont want to lose it after being inactive. How long does it take for it to disappear?
