Side Lunge Form - Toe Straight Forward or 45 Degrees?

I've seen Kelli & Daniel do weighted side lunges with their bending leg toes forward, or with the bending leg toes out 45 degrees. Is there a difference in form? Is one way "better"? I personally feel it more in my glute when I face my toes forward, so that's how I usually do them (plus less foot-sliding), but was wondering about the "right" way to do them.
