Slight Pain/Discomfort in Deep Glute Stretch?

Hello FB Family,

I have something I've been wondering about for a while that I'm curious if anyone might have any insight into. For quite some time, each time that I do a deep glute stretch lying on my back with my left leg crossed over top, before I reach the point where I feel a stretch deep in my glute, I feel a discomfort/sometimes a pain in my leg that seems to be coming from my hamstring. It doesn't happen when I do pigeon stretch (which in my mind is the same stretch but just not on my back), and I only really notice it in my left leg, however I don't seem to notice any dramatic difference in hamstring flexibility from side to side while performing other stretches. What do you guys think? Any advice/has anyone experienced anything similar? Think I should avoid this stretch? (It used to feel so good!!)

Thanks y'all!
