Unable to do even low-impact version

I'm new to FB, having started Strong last week. Overall I'm enjoying it, but I'm a bit concerned because there are certain exercises, particularly anything plank or push-up related, that I'm unable to do even the easier low-impact version of with proper form.

For example, I was doing a routine with reps of side planks with a leg lift. They suggested getting down on your knee if it was too hard to do a full plank, but even that was extremely difficult to do for more than 5-10 seconds and the version I was doing was not in accurate form.

My worry is how will I ever make progress when I'm not even capable of doing the easy version of some of these exercises?
