Glute activation gone wrong?

I was looking forward to trying the Glute Activation Workout - Knee Friendly Butt and Thigh Workout but I found that my glutes were not activating unless I really engaged my core.

Went for a training bike ride after this and my lower back was in agony and still is after 24h.

What have I done wrong? Or, which muscle group is not doing itโ€™s job? Thanks!
