Side lunges and assisted pistals

Hi all,

Does anyone else find they overstretch their inner thigh muscles with the above exercises? Every time these moves come up I dread it and sometimes do curtesy or normal lunges instead as 9/10 times I end up pulling a muscle even without weights. Its nothing major but it will stop me doing anything that stretches inner thighs for a few days. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but ive been exercising for over a year and experience the same thing. Thanks :)
