Working up to jump lunges

I'm fine with doing jump squats, but jump lunges are a real struggle for me. I can't do more than 5 at a time. For now I do modifications, but how can I build up strength to do jumping lunges? I can lift heavy and I can do a lot of jump squats, but I'm still not strong enough to do the lunges jumping. Also, when I do manage to do some I feel like I do them wrong or that they're really sloppy because of balance.
