Threw my back out and tried to get back to it too soon

I am so frustrated! I threw my back out putting paper into the recycling bin,(ridiculous but true!) and I stretched, iced, etc. for two days and today it was feeling good. I did the warm up for scheduled upper body workout and towards the end I moved too fast during a toe touch and put my back out of whack again! I hate not being able to do what I want to do, and I feel like my muscles are softening with each minute. Ugh! Sometimes listening to your body is a really tough choice.
