Proper form with obstacle in the way

Form is super important but I can't always do proper form. Not because I can't but because my belly is in the way. I don't know if this makes sense so here is an example. When I do burpees and step forward, I also have to step to the side. If my hands are touching the ground, then my leg has to go on the outside. The runner's stretch is another one. Child's pose is a different stretch but also one where I'm not sure if I'm doing it right because of my belly. I'm posting because I don't know if this can still be proper form. Or if I lose some benefits because of this and therefore should do something else instead. I just don't know how to judge it.
