Does lifting do anything if you're eating at a caloric deficit?

Hey everyone! So here's my deal - I'm 5'6, 160 lbs, and looking to lose 20-25 or so and finally be in a good healthy weight range. I chose the FB Fit program because I saw such amazing before and afters in regard to weight loss.

Out of curiosity, I was wondering if there is any point to lifting when I'm currently eating at a slight deficit to lose weight.

I LOVE lifting (so much more than cardio), but the nagging part of my brain keeps telling me my time would be better spent doing HIIT type stuff to burn more calories.
