Intermittent fasting or a reduced calorie meal plan?

I am wondering what works better for people -either fasting and reduced calorie plans. For me personally I can do IF for about 4 days where I eat breakfast and lunch and skip dinner until I get hungry and have to eat again. I thought I would try a reduced calorie of 1400 instead so I would not feel deprived at night. What have other people done and found successful? Thanks!
