Sweet Tooth: Tell Me How You Do It

Hi, I'm super frustrated with myself. I want to lose weight and maintain it, but I struggle with my sweet tooth. Every time I think I can indulge a bit, I overdo it! Instead of one piece of chocolate it turns into four pieces. I'm seriously wondering if I just need to stop having any type of sweets at home and only have dessert or something when I go out to special dinners or something. I'm just so scared because it seems when I have any type of sweet or processed food (chips, etc) it just spirals out of control. Any advice?
