nutrition/calories

So I just started a 4 week workout program and stepping up my activity levels in general and naturally feel more hungry all the time as a result. I try to keep my calories at 1400-1500 a day and I’m finding that I’m going about 100 a day over this limit on MyFitnessPal. I know being overly oppressive about food tracking isn’t good but I’m terrified I will either gain weight or my body will stay the same and all the work I put into exercises will be pointless. By the way, these are mostly healthy calories I’m eating with occasional pieces of chocolate. What are your thoughts? Should I let myself eat a little more and “cave” to my hunger or be more strict about staying within the limits, as it seems to be my only concrete form of control?
