Feeling sick when I run?

Whenever I run a mile, (which has only been twice lol) I always feel terrible, almost sick, and have to rest completely for 15 minutes until I feel normal again. I feel sooo much more exhausted running a mile than doing HIIT! Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to strengthen that particular part of my cardiovascular system? Am I just terribly awful at "long distance" running? Thanks! For reference, the first time I ran a 7:30 mile outdoors, and then a 7:45 treadmill mile. Thanks!
