Joint-friendly exercise

Dear FB Family,

Can anyone help with some advice? I'm having some issues with my knees, elbows and wrists; it seems like tendon/ligament problems. I'm booked in with my doctor tomorrow to request a referral to a specialist (which will typically take about 1,000 years to happen...), but in the meantime I'm stuck for a workout and I really don't want to lose fitness. What would you do in my place? I'm nearby to several gyms, so could join for a short time if there's some kind of machine that would help for now, though for convenience's sake, I'd rather stay at home. I'll give anything a try except swimming, because it's just too harrowing in January in Northern Europe.

Please help!
