Tonight I joined Goodgym for their first run of 2019...
Goodgym is an organisation that arranges runs of various distances to and from charities, where the group of runners get involved in a task to help the charity.
Tonight 27 of us ran (in two groups) to the local Foodbank, 4.5k away. When we got there, we helped sort boxes of all types of donated food into the right boxes so that the food can be distributed to poor families in our area. Then we had to run the 4.5k back to our meetup point.
It was quite cold tonight, especially on the way back when we had the wind against us. After my short cycle ride home, I was glad to get into a nice hot shower.
Every week the charity we run to is different, the task we do there is different, the distance we run is different, but it is always with a great group of like minded people!!!
Tonight was my first ‘longer’ run. I was pretty proud to have run that distance and I was not the slowest runner either!!! (Three girls about half my age were slower.)
