Overview

Looking to get a bit of a buzz without blowing your diet? Try this Low Calorie Margarita Recipe made with real fruit!

Not only does this recipe allow you a great tasting alcoholic drink that keeps your diet on track but because it is made with real fruit and fruit juice, this adds a little extra vitamin and mineral content to your daily total. This drink is an easy choice for those trying to lose weight or just not gain any and it is an even easier choice due to how simple it is to make.

Ingredients
1-2 Shots Tequila
1 Cup Frozen Strawberries
1/2 Ounce Lime Juice (fresh is best)
1/4 - 1/2 Packet Low Calorie Strawberry Water Flavor (depending on how strong you want it to taste)
2 Ounces Water
3/4 Cup Ice Cubes

How to make it
Put the tequila, lime juice, and water in a cup and use it to dissolve the flavoring. Pour this mixture onto the blades of the blender then add the strawberries and ice and blend until smooth.

Makes one serving.

For a thicker drink, use frozen strawberries; for a thinner consistency use thawed or fresh berries. The temperature of your tequila will also have an effect on the drinks consistency. Using tequila from the freezer will keep the drink thicker longer than using room temperature tequila. To make a larger serving, simply double the recipe (any more than double or triple the recipe might blow up a blender so be careful!).

Try and stick to water flavorings that at least use artifical sweeteners that have been shown to be relatively safe/natural/unaltered. When enjoying low calorie alcoholic beverages, remember that the ones in the drinks are not the only part that can ruin your diet. Drinking alcohol can lower your willpower when it comes to the sorts of meal choices that you make, so be sure not to overindulge and lessen your chances of saying “no” to a 2 AM run to Taco Bell.
