5 Minute Mango Applesauce Recipe - All Natural Snack Idea

5 Minute Mango Applesauce Recipe - All Natural Snack Idea

Healthy Recipes

Overview

Delicious, healthy, and ridiculously easy to make; you only need a few pieces of fruit and a few minutes to make this whole-foods snack.

Mangoes are high in vitamin C & vitamin A, and are a good source of B6, and vitamin E. Apples are a good source of vitamin C and both are an excellent source of fiber. Each has a long list of health benefits, including possibly lessening the likelihood of cancer and heart disease, benefits to the respiratory system, including preventing the risk of developing asthma, improving digestive health - the list of perks goes on and on. Cinnamon is an antioxidant powerhouse and can also help to lower the chance of cancer and heart disease, improve digestion, and decrease inflammation in the body. It can also help keep blood sugar levels in check by increasing sensitivity to insulin.

This is a high carbohydrate snack that’s loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants; this would be a great pre-workout snack. Aside from being nutritious, it tastes awesome.

You will need:
A blender
1 mango, washed, peeled & cored
2 apples, washed & cored but not peeled (a good portion of the vitamin C is right under the skin)
cinnamon, optional, to taste; I added ¼ tsp

How to
Wash & prepare the fruit, toss into the blender along with the cinnamon & the rest is history. Between washing and peeling the fruit & blending, this will literally require less than 5 minutes of your time to whip up (unite, fellow lazy people!).

The recipe above made about 1 ½  cups of mango applesauce. This time it fed two people; I shared it with Daniel but truth be told, next time I will at least double the recipe to have more for myself!

With ingredients like these, variations are endless and it’s really hard to go wrong. You can always try modifying the amounts of each fruit, and there are many options when it comes to mixing up the flavor. For example, I love cinnamon. I could easily double or triple the amount of cinnamon we listed on the ingredients above (Daniel is not as huge a fan as I am).

Other flavor combinations to add & experiment with:
Vanilla
Maple syrup
Ginger
Bake the apples before blending for even more of a warming treat
Squeeze the juice from half of an orange into the mix
Try adding different fruits into the mix; blueberries, peaches, strawberries, raspberries, & bananas are just a few of the options that would all taste great
