Overview

Meet your fellow Blender, Blair! Read her entire interview below to learn how she did it, why she did it, how long it took her + lots of great tips on making changes towards a healthier lifestyle.

"I have so many more goals for myself over the next year, and I can't wait to get started!! It's crazy to me that I weigh the exact same as I did this time last year, but I have lost over 9% body fat, replacing it with toned muscle! My lower body still has a long way to go, but it's getting there ;) As I always tell my clients - it's about progress, not perfection. I plan to keep challenging myself, trying new things, and motivating myself to put our family's health first. Take care of your body, it's the only place you have to live!"

- Did you use one of our programs or put together your own using our videos?
I found your site online and just began trying different videos on my own, alternating cardio/strength/upper and lower body/core/HIIT, etc - I haven't done one of your programs yet but would love to check those out next!

- How long did it take you to reach the point where you’re at now (when did you start?)
My first video was November 1st, 2013, and I've done a Fitness Blender workout 5-6 days a week for a year now!

- What made you decide to start working out?
In September 2013, I was diagnosed with early-onset degenerative disc disease. I basically have vertebrae rubbing against each other in my lower back, causing me lots of pain throughout the day and night. I am only 32 years old, and I realized that if I wanted to live my life to the fullest and keep up with my two little boys at home (ages 2 and 5), I needed to strengthen my mind AND body. I wasn't going to give in to the pain, and with bi-weekly chiropractic adjustments and physical exercise, my back pain is now manageable without ANY medication! Not even a Tylenol ;)

- Do you have any favorite Fitness Blender workouts?
I love them all - I groan through the HIIT routines with you both, I really enjoy the ABAB format of strength training and HIIT/Cardio, and I particularly loved the 5-Day Challenge for Busy People!! Since 5am is the ONLY time I have to work out during the day, I really appreciated the shorter (yet challenging) routines that would allow me a quick shower before my boys woke up :)

- Favorite Fitness Blender Program (if applicable)?
N/A (yet)

- Hardest Fitness Blender workout you’ve tried
I did one of Daniel's 'Ladder of Pain' workouts and thought that was crazy hard!! Also, I made it through my first 1,000 calorie workout - I really enjoyed it even though it was super hard, and I want to do others, I just can't seem to carve out the time it takes to complete them (I think most are around the 80/90 minute mark)

- Average difficult of FB workouts you do (out of the 1-5 scale)
Right now, I usually do level 4. When I first started exercising with Fitness Blender, the Level 3s were extremely challenging for me and now they are my favorite recovery workouts!!

- What’s your favorite training style?
I wouldn't say I have a particular 'favorite', I just really enjoy the variety Fitness Blender offers!! I have been using these videos for a year now, and I still don't think I've done the same ones! :)

- How many days a week do you exercise, length of workouts on average?
5-6 days a week, usually 30-45 minutes. But our family enjoys physical activity throughout the week like hiking, biking, walking/jogging to school :)

- Favorite healthy snack or meal?
I really love a hearty salad with tons of veggies, a hard boiled egg, avocado, a little grilled chicken and a vinaigrette of some sort. Sometimes I use salsa instead of dressing - love that little bit of spice! And I've learned to love water. I never used to drink enough, and now that we live in the Rockies at elevation I definitely need more - I try to drink 80-100oz a day.

- Best tip that you would give to someone just starting to workout
Just commit. It's going to be hard at first, some days you are going to feel defeated, but then you are going to start surprising yourself with your physical achievements - your body is built to do amazing things!!!

- Favorite fitness quote?
Take care of your body, it's the only place you have to live!

- Something that you have gained from committing to healthy eating and exercise?
Confidence :) And to stop focusing on the # on the scale. I weigh anywhere from 126-132 pounds on a daily basis - in my 'Before' picture from October 2013, I weighed exactly the same! What I have focused on is my body fat %, which was over 29% when I first started exercising and now it's down to 20%!

- Something that you can do now that you couldn’t do before?
I am not a big runner, but a couple weeks ago when we were visiting my in-laws, I went for a run and came back completely excited - I hadn't tried running in a few years, and I went 4 miles without stopping my very first time out! It was awesome :)
